Grant Sandberg led the Saints to a third place team finish as he bested the field by two shots, firing a one over par 36 over nine holes at Osseo Golf Club on Thursday, April 21. As a team the Saints (189) finished in third place behind Cadott (164) and the Neillsville-Loyal Cooperative (186).
The day was a challenging one for all the golfers as the greens were a bit bumpy from some agronomy mishaps left over from last season. All of the golfers accepted the challenge without a lot of grumbling even though there were definitely some crazy bounces, good and bad, on the greens!
For the Saints, Andrew Reis (49), Ethan Petersilka (51), Afton Fedie (53), and Bryan Misener (54) rounded out the scoring.
The next match for the varsity squad will be the Chi-hi Invite at Lake Wissota Golf this Saturday. Shotgun start is slated for 9:30 a.m. Next week finds the varsity with a full schedule with nine hole matches on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday in the Cloverbelt and the Bloomer Invitational 18-hole event at Bloomer Memorial on Friday.
